Your voice is the only "God Given" instrument that cannot be bought. You can develop it, strengthen it and perfect it through training and muscle toning.
I have over 25 years of professional performing and vocal training in voice. The technique that I teach is not focused on theory. I teach muscle memory strengthening through a series of exercises which target specific muscle groups within the facial, neck & diaphram areas. Improvement takes consistent hard work & dedication on the part of each pupil.
Have you ever wondered how your voice works?
The vocal cords (or folds) are located inside the larynx, or "adam's apple", and are attached from front to back. Air pressure or breathing in deeply before singing causes the cords to open or close very quickly, creating sound. Very little air is needed to produce a tone, but too much air will shock your vocal cords causing them to close quickly disrupting the tone of the note. The technique I teach creates balance between air and muscle. When the muscles located on the outside of the larynx tighten in an effort to control the pitch or dynamic of the note you are trying to sing it results in unnecessary external muscular tension which causes the larynx to not freely vibrate creating unwanted sound. In correct vocal production, the larynx stays in a relaxed and stable position, allowing the cords to easily adjust for pitch and dynamic requirements without any outside muscle help (outer muscles of the larynx) which should not be used for singing. You should never have to force your larynx to reach high notes or force them down to create a "darker" quality. Instead, it should always remain stable and relaxed.
So, air travels from the lungs into your vocal cords, which vibrate fast for high pitches and slow for lower notes. The sound is then reinforced when it reaches the resonating system. This is what makes each singer different and voices so unique. The resonating system is located above your larynx and contains different sizes and shaped openings which allow air to flow through making your voice beautiful & unique. Lastly, the sound is then affected by your articulators; your lips, tongue and muscular effort.
